First Book
First Book provides free, quality books to children who might not have access or opportunity to own their own new books. As part of First Book, WSRE-TV partners with other community agencies to offer a unique program called Books for Babies. Books for Babies distributes a new book and a variety of literacy awareness information, to the parents of every newborn baby born in Escambia County. WSRE-TV distributes approximately 7,500 books annually through this program.

National Teacher Training Institute (NTTI)
WSRE-TV is one of the 26 national sites participating in NTTI. The National Teacher Training Institute for Math, Science and Technology is the largest and most distinguished national professional development program developed and sustained by public broadcasting. Educators from Northwest Florida serve as master teachers for WSRE-TV and NTTI and develop interactive, innovative lesson plans based on public television programs.

PBS Kids Educational Programming
PBS Kids Educational Programming is a service designed for use in the pre-school - 12 curriculums. WSRE-TV distributes thousands of materials each month to both public and private schools, as well as to daycare facilities and home school associations.

Ready to Learn
This national outreach project allows public broadcasting stations to form alliances with educational and social service agencies and businesses. The goal is to ensure that all children in America begin their school careers "ready to learn" with everything necessary to be successful. Ready to Learn includes programming and learning tips for children, training of parents and care providers, and family newsletters.

Let Us Hear From You
WSRE-TV would like to hear from teachers who are using PBS educational programming in the classroom to enhance the curriculum and to stimulate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning in their students. Give us your feedback, so we can serve you better!

We also welcome comments and suggestions from parents, children and any of our viewers! If we can be of service to you in any way, please call (850) 484-1236 or (850) 484-1253. You may also email Jill Hubbs with your comments.
