Save the Date for WSRE's
25th Annual Wine & Food Classic
With Former White House Executive Pastry Chef
and King of Louisiana Seafood
Pensacola, Fla. — WSRE is celebrating 25 years of legendary Wine & Food Classic fundraising events with an entire weekend of festivities for lovers of wine, food and public television presented by Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Three events covering an array of essential wine and food experiences are set for October, 18, 19 and 20 at various Pensacola Beach venues. Event chairs for this special weekend are Julian & Kim MacQueen.
To kickoff the Wine & Food Weekend, the new Pensacola Beach restaurant Red Fish, Blue Fish will host the “Opening Night Sunset Salute Reception and Tasting” from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, October 19, generously sponsored by Innisfree Hotels. A more casual affair, the evening features our traditional walkabout tasting inviting guests to savor the gastronomical delights prepared by past Wine & Food chefs. Republic National Distributing Company is pairing each chef’s specialty with an exceptional collection of 25th anniversary libations. At sunset, we’ll “salute” all those legendary folks that have helped us reach 25 years! Tickets are $50 per person.
Saturday evening’s “Legendary WSRE Classic VIP Dinner & Dance,” from 6:30-10 p.m. at the gorgeous Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, features special guest, former White House executive pastry chef, Roland Mesnier. Originally from France, he began his career in the kitchen at age 14 as an apprentice. Mesnier served as the executive pastry chef at the White House for 25 years. He was responsible for creating thousands of elegant, delicious and dazzling desserts for presidents, first families, kings, queens and heads of state from around the world. He served under the administrations of Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Today, he is an accomplished culinary instructor as well as a master chef. Guests of this limited seating gourmet dinner will enjoy multiple courses presented by some of Pensacola’s own award-winning chefs followed by a live auction and special toe-tapping entertainment from “The Tip Tops” – back by popular demand. Tickets are $150 per person.
To top off the weekend celebration, guests are invited to a WSRE first – a Sunday jazz brunch. The “Biscuits n’ Bubbly” brunch, held poolside at the Holiday Inn Resort Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, Sunday, October 20, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., features the King of Louisiana Seafood, Chef Cody Carroll. A fast-rising star in the culinary world, Carroll is the chef and owner of Hot Tails in New Roads, LA near Baton Rouge. Earlier this year he won the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off, an annual New Orleans competition, beating well-known chefs from Arnauds’ and Bayona in New Orleans. Tickets are $75 per person.
