Production & Uplink Services

Production Studios - WSRE-TV's Kugelman Center for Telecommunications houses three well-equipped studios. The smallest is 18' by 27' and is equipped with broadcast quality fluorescent lighting. The middle studio is 40' by 50' and is also equipped with broadcast quality fluorescent lighting and supplemented with quartz lighting. The largest studio is being enlarged and remodeled. When it is finished in Summer 2004, it will have floor space of 60' by 80'. It will also be equipped with a green room, dressing and restrooms, as well as stadium type pull out seating for 500. It will have its own entrance, patron restrooms, temporary production offices and a breakout room with snack bar.

Uplink Services - As a PBS affiliate, WSRE-TV's digital cameras, nonlinear editing equipment and satellite truck are available to cable and national broadcasters to cover local and regional stories of national interest. WSRE-TV offers both fixed and mobile uplink services. We are equipped with fully redundant Ku analog equipment.

The studio uplink facilities have the capability of feeding Beta SP, DV Cam, and DVC Pro tape. WSRE-TV's mobile uplink facility is a satellite truck equipped with a fully redundant Ku analog uplink, generator or shore power, cell phone or land line PL and IFB connections. The truck is also equipped with three Sony DXC-D35 cameras with CCU's and 300 feet of cable each. It has two Sony Beta SP VCR's and a Yamaha 16 channel audio board and a GVG-100 production switcher. The range of the truck is generally Southern Mississippi, Southern Alabama, and Northwest Florida. Further distances can be accommodated on an event by event basis. A production crew is also available on a limited basis.
