The WSRE PBS Festival of Trees is becoming a holiday kickoff tradition in Pensacola. Each year in November, local designers, businesses and community organizations decorate trees and wreaths in support of the public television station and compete for people’s choice awards. Online registration is now open at wsre.org/events for designer signup and an orientation meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, in the WSRE Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio at Pensacola State College.

“We are inviting local crafters, designers and groups to join us for a little Christmas in July, complete with holiday cookies and carols, during a brief information meeting about this year’s event timeline and details,” said WSRE PBS General Manager Jill Hubbs.

The station provides artificial trees and wreaths to the volunteers who contribute decorations and their creative designs. The decorated trees and wreaths are then sold during the Festival of Trees with proceeds benefiting the WSRE-TV Foundation.

This year’s Festival of Trees will take place November 15–17 in the WSRE Amos Studio, where the twinkling forest of decorated greenery will be displayed. The public is invited to stroll through the display, vote for their favorite trees, buy a wreath, and buy or place auction bids to take a beautifully decorated tree home for the holidays.
